Just an hour’s drive south of Perth, the darling scarp melts into the Indian Ocean, rivers flow through the dense forest and pristine beaches curl up beside charming seaside towns. You can find a gentler pace of life by exploring the historic towns of Dwellingup and Pinjarra, and cruising down Mandurah’s canals. Wineries, cafes and country pubs not only serve up local produce but are also wonderful settings to share adventure tales.
Mandurah is best known for its crabbing season, but you can also fish for herring, sand whiting, bream, cobbler and tailor in the Mandurah Estuary. Mandurah also offers seafood tours, fishing charters and boat hire if you were interested in learning about wild seafood. Don’t forget to pop into one of the many fish and chip shops while you’re there.
