DESTINATIONS | CORAL COAST
Discover the Coral Coast
Tens of thousands of visitors head to the sunny Coral Coast each year, to play on unspoiled beaches and explore rugged and unique national parks. The southernmost seaside towns make great day-trip or short-break destinations and in the north, the Ningaloo Coast spans 300km along pristine coastline, from Red Bluff to Exmouth. While it offers boundless opportunities to see marine life on the world’s largest fringing reef, the area is best known for its giant whale sharks.
The town’s of Dongara and Port Denison are said to be the rock lobster capitals of Australia. Visit the Indian Ocean Rock Lobster Factory in Cervantes for a fascinating tour of their processing plant. The Abrolhos Islands are located off the coast of Geraldton and are a paradise for crayfish, dhufish and baldchin groper. Anglers try their luck at mulloway, tailor, bream, mud crabs and blue manna crabs in Carnavon, with marlin, mahi mahi, mackerel and sailfish making an appearance in Exmouth’s waters.
