From luxury dining to hands-on experiences, discover the many ways to uncover WA’s fresh seafood scene

Western Australia offers a wide range of ocean-to-plate experiences from humble fish and chips through to delicious rock lobsters.

You’ll find many fish and chip shops across the State committed to ocean-to-plate experiences with some owners fishing in the morning and selling their catch in the afternoon and evening. Seafood doesn’t get any fresher!

There are also dozens of seafood wholesalers across the city delivering ocean fresh seafood directly to consumers.

Market City in the southern Perth suburb of Canning Vale opens its doors to the public on Saturday mornings between 6am and 10am for bulk purchases of the freshest seafoods. The atmosphere is busy and welcoming with opportunities to talk with the local seafood experts and get the best deals on the freshest produce while enjoying Perth’s famous BBQ seafood sizzle.

Fremantle’s Fishing Boat Harbour also offers waterfront dining options where you can dine on seafood freshly harvested from local waters.

For something a little different, there are a range of ocean-to-plate lobster experiences including the newly launched back-of-boat sales on Geraldton’s jetty, where you can buy lobsters directly from the boat.

For those wanting to gain a deeper experience of the lobster industry, the Lobster Shack in Cervantes opens its factory doors to visitors for an insight into the lobster lifecycle. While touring the facility you can check out how lobsters are stored and processed as they come from the boats, before walking next door to dine al fresco on the freshest lobsters imaginable while taking in views over the Indian Ocean.
